FLOWER BEDS (2023)

Updated: Jan 9, 2024

As someone with an interest in the paranormal and having had past experiences, I find that the scariest time of day is not night, but mid-day. The sun beating down, air thick enough to muffle your voice and vision. A distortion of time washes over your brain, disorienting you.

Therefore, I used colourful flowers to frame this film. I believe nature is a priceless location and there is no limit to its production value, making this film eerie without loosing its beauty.

Many of us have had that feeling that someone... or something… is standing behind us, or chasing us up the stairs. It’s unexplainable and unnerving. Sometimes, when visiting houses owned by old money you get that uncanny feeling. The world you've stepped into is detached from the one you've come from. Everything appears bigger; the trees, flowers, driveway, like an endless garden with endless secrets, built before time began. In my film, this happens to Sammy, a young women employed as a part time gardener. However, instead of these experiential feelings of dread going away, they only get worse, creeping up on her until she is re-living the brutal trauma she experienced in her final moments. Flowerbeds is a waking nightmare which turns out to be all too real.
